Get To Know Us And How We Do It!
J and F Powner Ltd was formed through a farm diversification project back in 2005. Based in the heart of Leicestershire we were processing around 2000 tons a year running alongside the family farms suckler heard and arable farm. Fifteen years on and the family ethics of the business are still here all be it on a much larger scale. We now process an estimated amount of around 20,000 Tons a year. Even with the large-scale operation we are running today we work closely with all of our customers whether that be a Large County Council or a Small Landscaper we cater for their individual needs whatever they might be.Â
Once the recyclable material is received at our site either on Customers Vehicles or via our own fleet of HGV Tippers or RoRo Skip Services. It goes through strict quality protocols to make sure the waste is free from any contaminates and non-recyclables. Once the waste has passed quality checks it is formed and placed into batches of around 450 tons. Once formed an 9 week cycle starts, continuous temperature and moisture monitoring takes place making sure the processing compost reaches the correct heat and moisture levels. It is vital these parameters are  met to break down the waste and turn it into the wonderful compost we produce. If the parameters are not met and it does not meet our high standards of perfection then it simply goes through the whole process again! When the 9 week process is finished the final compost product is screened off and is ready for all of our Agricultural and Horticultural customers!
Not only does our compost meet strict in house and external audits and testing it also complies with strict industry standards for a PAS100 product.
Producing such a great product means that it is a brilliant soil structure improver/conditioner. Our compost contains readily available Potassium (K), slow releasing Nitrogen (N), Phosphorus (P) and Sulphur (S). Our Compost is high in organic matter meaning it is rich in carbon which is needed for soil microbial populations, to drive and encourage nutrient cycles and essential soil process. Not only does the product give great nutrient advantages it will improve soil structure, greater water handling, decrease the amount of soil erosion/disposition in lighter soils and will reduce soil leaching.
